Staying at Carinya

What kind of accommodation is Carinya Byron Bay?

Carinya offers six self-contained, eco-friendly villas in the Byron Bay hinterland. Each villa has two bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen and living space, a private deck, and beautiful views of the surrounding nature.

Is Carinya suitable for couples or families?

Yes! Our villas are ideal for couples looking for a peaceful retreat, as well as families wanting space to unwind. Each villa sleeps up to four guests.

Can we book all the villas for a group stay?

Definitely. We host family gatherings, retreats and wedding guest bookings regularly. You can book up to all six villas for a group of up to 24 people. Find out more about group stays here.

Do you allow pets?

We love animals, but to protect the native wildlife and maintain the peaceful surroundings, Carinya is a pet-free property.

Eco-Friendly and Off-Grid

Is Carinya off-grid?

Yes. We're proudly off-grid and powered by solar energy. The villas run on rainwater and we’ve prioritised sustainable materials and design throughout.

Do the villas have air conditioning?

To stay true to our eco ethos, the villas don’t have air con. They’re designed to stay naturally cool, with ceiling fans, elevated positioning, and plantation shutter windows to capture breezes.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. All villas have free Wi-Fi, although being in the hinterland, the connection may not be as fast as in-town speeds. Think of it as a good excuse to slow down.

Accessibility

Do you have accessible accommodation?

Yes. One of our villas is fully accessible, with step-free access, a roll-in shower, grab bars, and space for mobility aids. If you have specific accessibility needs, get in touch—we’re happy to help make your stay as comfortable as possible. Learn more about our accessible villa.

Booking & Check-In

What is your check-in and check-out time?

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 10am. We offer self-check-in via lockbox, and we’ll send you all the details a few days before your arrival.

Can I request early check-in or late check-out?

We’ll do our best to accommodate requests depending on bookings. Please reach out in advance—extra fees may apply.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Bookings cancelled 5 or more days before arrival will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 5 days of arrival are non-refundable.

Do you offer discounts for direct bookings?

Yes. We offer the best rates when you book direct, and occasionally share seasonal offers or group discounts. Feel free to ask us what's available.

Getting Here & Local Tips

Where is Carinya located?

We’re in Talofa, 10 minutes from Byron Bay and 5 minutes from Bangalow, in the Byron Bay hinterland. It’s the perfect base to explore beaches, markets, food spots, and hinterland towns.

Do I need a car?

Yes, we recommend having a car for your stay. Carinya is in a peaceful rural location with no public transport access. There’s plenty of parking onsite.

What are your top local tips?
